Under My Mother's Wings

I received an email with this beautiful story that I just had to figure out how to use for wordart. Its pretty long but its pretty... here it is...

A baby asked God, 'They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?' God said, 'Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.'

The child further inquired, 'But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.' God said, 'Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy.'

Again th
e child asked, 'And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?' God said, 'Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.'

'And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?' and God replied, 'Your angel will place your hands together and
will teach you how to pray.'

'Who will protect me?'
God said, 'Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.'

'But I will always be sad because I
will not see you anymore.' God said, 'Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.'

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, 'God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name.'

And God said, 'You will simply call her, 'Mom.'

So, I turned it into wings... and created some wordart for ya! I even gave you an example of how I used it. Now, I'll have you know I did not create this for my picture... I created the wordart first and then worked a picture into it. I'm hoping you'll be able to do the same... which is why I left some white areas in the wings where they would "attach" to your photo person. I hope you are able to use it and if you do... please let me know!!!!

Here's the wordart, in several versions. Just click on the photo to be taken to the download page! :D

I NEEEED A VACATION!!!!!

OK, sorry to scream there in the title but seriously, my family needs a vacation! And guess what?!?!?! You, yes you, can help get me one! Well, actually you might be able to help me get one but its not a done deal. All right, I'll stop babbling and tell ya what I'm thinking.

Disney's Family website is running a contest that I just entered. You have to write a story about a favorite vacation memory. I went with a funny story (which was much longer but you can only use 200 words... eghad!) and I'm hoping it will get some votes on its own... yes, votes! So, here's where you all come in... did you see it coming? Lol.

I'm hoping I'll get some of you wonderful people to go vote for me. Actually, you could make my little three year old be the happiest in her life if you did it every day... pleeeeasssseeee ... if we won, we'd get a 5 day/ 4 night stay at Disney, all expenses paid! How cool would that be?!??!!

So, what you'd need to do is sign up for this awesome website (great craft ideas there as well as loads of other info) and then go here and vote for my entry. I'd really be so appreciative if you would. And to show my appreciation, here's a little bit of wordart I did a while back. It's my all time favorite wordart creation I've ever done. I'm not much good at this kind of thing normally but it really came together somehow. And the yellow background is just so you can see it in its entirety with the very, very slight word "home" in the background. I have it saved as a png file so you can do whateva you'd like. :D

I used the fonts Century Schoolbook, Courier (T1) and Zapfino.

Playing Hearts

When I was a little girl, I used to stay at my Grandma's house for about a week after Christmas. Part of it was to run away from the clean up duty our family had to do since we hosted the biggest get together of extended family each year. The other part was so I could spend some time with my Dad's Mom, a woman that I realize now I don't know that much about but still love very deeply.

My memory may be a bit distorted on this but I do believe she and I stayed up till the wee hours of the morning playing hearts. I've long since forgotten how to play this game although I know enough to remember it wouldn't be hard to learn again. In honor of my Grandma Sylvia Sullivan and her big heart, this Valentine's Day... hmmmm... Night, I am sharing with you some cards for you to go play "heart" with too.

Enjoy! Just click on the picture to be taken to 4Shared! :D
